General Information

Inquiry Team Training (ITT) provides three days of intensive modular training on how to respond to child safety reports. The Inquiry Team Training is reserved for CSPN Member organizations. Mission agencies and international schools are encouraged to send 2-4 people to the same ITT event. CSPN members must be approved by their gatekeeper to attend the ITT. Please plan to attend every ITT session over all three days of training.

The Virginia ITT will begin Thursday, April 20th, 2017 at 8 am. It will run through 5 pm Saturday, April 22nd. If you will be staying on to attend the Annual Conference starting Monday, April 24th, please be sure to book Sunday night as well.

Tentative Schedule

Inquiry Team Training (ITT) is geared for Missions Organizations and International Christian Schools who: have been approved as members of the Child Safety & Protection Network, have completed or are in the process of drafting their child safety policies, and wish to train a team in the area of organizational response to child abuse reports regarding staff or children within their organization.

Agencies are asked to send a minimum of 2 team members (unless others from the organization have already attended one of the trainings) who have been specifically tasked with conducting internal inquiries for their organization.

Prior to attendance at the Inquiry Team Training, the agency gatekeepers are asked to commit to the following:

  • identify inquiry team members who fit the criteria (sample listed in the Elements of Child Safety).
  • review together your agency response policies and procedures so that the inquiry team training will build well on them.
  • bring your agency's child safety policies and procedures with you to the training (regardless of where in the process they may be, even if they are in draft form).

Important Reminders Regarding the Venue

  1. ILC is a smoke-free facility.
  2. No pets allowed on property.

Room & Board

The cost per person per night is $65 for room and board. For folks who live in the area and are attending the conference, a flat rate of $100 will be charged for meals for Thursday through Saturday. Please note that rooms are limited and single rooms are only offered to those who have a medical need for them.


The ILC rooms are private and equipped with full baths, towels, and bedding with 2 single beds per room. Lodging is available Wednesday night through Saturday or if you are staying on to attend the Annual Conference, through Thursday morning check outs.


All meals are cafeteria style, with a wide variety of healthy, delicious food options.

For those arriving on Wednesday, April 19, depending on your arrival time, the cafeteria may be closed. Lunch is from 11:00-1:00 p.m. and dinner is from 5:00-6:00 p.m. If you are planning to stay on for the Annual Conference, make sure to book meals for Sunday.

Name Badges

Name badges must be worn at all times on the lLC campus. They will be provided upon arrival.


No photographs may be taken of IMB personnel going through orientation without their prior permission.

Internet Access

The email address you provided during registration will be your user name. Further directions will be made available upon your arrival at the ILC.

Meals on Saturday

Breakfast on Saturday differs slightly than on weekdays: 8-9. Checkout is after breakfast (unless you are booked to stay on for the annual conference.

 Travel Information


The ILC is approximately 32 miles NW of Richmond International Airport [RIC]. On good traffic days, it takes approximately 45 minutes to/from airport. Please factor this in when purchasing airline tickets.

You will be responsible for setting up your own transportation from the airport to the conference site. Below is listed information for Taxis and Car Rentals. To view other prearranged services please go to the Richmond airport site.


Like most large cities, Richmond offers reliable and affordable taxi service. You can find taxis at the airport in the center section of the lower level curbside, adjacent to the North and South parking garages (follow the Ground Transportation signs). Service runs from first flight departure to last flight arrival. Each listed operator offers wheelchair-accessible vehicles. All of the taxis below can be reserved ahead of time or taken at the time of arrival. All taxi providers below have a rate of $2.50 per mile. Car Rental

If you plan on renting a car and driving to the conference site, directions from Richmond International Airport (RIC) to the ILC can be found below. The trip can take about 45 minutes depending on traffic and the route you take. As you approach the ILC, you will go through a security check point. Please inform the security guard that you are arriving for the “Child Safety Conference”. He/she will then direct you on where to go.


Early ITT Registration – Through December 31st, 2016 US $190
Standard ITT Member Registration – January 1st to April 5th, 2017 US $210
Room & Board per person per night US $65*
“Commuter” meals for the week US $100

Please note that the registration slot is only held when payment is received.  Payment is expected within two weeks of registration or registration may be cancelled. The cancellation fee is $100. Registration can be transferred to another individual for a fee of $50.

*Single Rooms
Due to limited housing single rooms will only be available to individuals who have a medical need or other special need requiring a single room as follows:

  1. Medical reason
  2. Sleep apnea machine
  3. Immediately prior overseas travel causing jet lag sleep issues
  4. Other, please explain fully
