RTT Information

This year's Europe Response Team Training will be taking place at the Black Forest Academy in Kandern, Germany. There will be an orientation taking place on Tuesday, March 20th from 4 to 6pm. Participants are welcome to dine out for dinner before or after this orientation. The Response Team Training (RTT) will follow taking place Wednesday, March 21st through Friday, March 23rd.

This Response Team Training (RTT) provides three days of intensive modular training on how to respond to child safety reports. This course is designed to specifically equip response team members, with the knowledge and skills to respond to a report of harm to a child within your organization. This training is a specialized course focusing on response team protocols for organizations who have an established Child Safety program and are able to respond to any reports of concern. This training is not a general Child Safety Training program, although it will give your organization an overview of what is ultimately needed. Attendees should be members of your organization who will be part of your response team, either as a team member, management/leadership of a response or member care staff who will support those directly involve.

The Response Team Training is reserved for CSPN Member organizations. Mission agencies and international schools are encouraged to send 2-4 people to the same RTT event. CSPN Members must be approved by their organization’s gatekeeper to attend. Please plan to attend every RTT session over all three days of the training.

We have reserved the entire Janz B&B for this conference. This B&B is located within walking distance of Black Forest Academy. Most of the rooms have two single beds in them and an en suite bathroom. There is one room with a double bed which is ideal for a couple. The cost per person per night is 33 Euros. Breakfast is included in this cost. You will book your room when you register. If you have a preference for a roommate, please put it that in the comment section on your registration form. Please note that we have booked these rooms for Tuesday, March 20th, to Friday, March 23rd nights. Please plan to arrive on Tuesday and check out on Saturday. Should you need to stay an extra night please let us know. Due to limited space, we are not able to offer single rooms at the B&B.

Breakfast will be held at the B&B. Lunch will be held at Black Forest Academy. The cost for this has been calculated into the registration fee. For dinner, participants are welcome to dine out at local restaurants.  

Your registration fee will cover the cost of your snacks and lunch. If you select the B&B housing, you will pay for your accommodations and breakfast as a part of your registration. You will not need to pay on site for your accommodations.

Travel Information

Airport& Visa Information
When buying airline tickets, the airport you should fly into is the Basel/Mulhouse EAP airport. When booking your tickets with Mulhouse, we recommend searching under France EAP instead of Basel EAP. Fares will be cheaper this way even though they are both at the same airport.

Additionally, when you are exiting the baggage claim, you must exit through the French side, going through the Swiss side is a mistake that often results in delays finding people.

Visas not required upon entry.

Basel SBB Train Information
You may come in also by train to Basel. If you choose this route please come into the SBB train station.

Transport from Airport to Hotel
For those wanting to be picked up, someone from Black Forest Academy will be transporting participants to and from the airport. They will be holding a CSPN sign. The cost for this shuttle is 25 Euros per person. If you want to be picked up please select that option in your registration. When you register please list the dates and times that you will be arriving, and whether you are coming in by plane or train. If you do not know at that time, please be sure to email Sheri Hegeman at [email protected] with your arrival and departure times. We need this information to ensure that you are picked up.



Early Registration – Until October 31st, 2017 US$ 305 per person
Standard Registration – November 1st, 2017 – February 26th, 2018 US$ 325 per person

Please note that the registration slot is only held when payment is received.  Payment is expected within two weeks of registration or registration may be cancelled. The cancellation fee is $100. Registration can be transferred to another individual for a fee of $50.
